Community Newspaper

A community newspaper sounds great. Just concerned about the costs. Might need to start out as a monthly thing or bi-weekly.
I talked to Jerome Creech to get some numbers to work with and he helped by playing devil's advocate, We did a rough figures estimate playing with the idea of an eight-page tabloid sized paper with a circulation of 10,000 each week, including USPS 3rd class mail delivery costs and having two employees. To be safe he suggested that we'd need to have 6 months of money up front to cover all expenses and that amount would be about $75,000. (Don't let that amount scare you). There are 26 weeks in 6 months, so we're talking about $3000 to put out 10,000 issues each week, that breaks down to less than 30 cents each delivered.
I've got some ad rate cards for local papers, I'll research a bit more to figure out how many ads at what cost would be needed to cover all expenses.

The most important step in unifying a community is to build a good network of communication. I'd like to create a weekly FREE newspaper that is delivered via the post office to all 9500 households in the area.
